At Tin Can Tech Support we help people with the technology issues in their home.  It’s that simple.

Whether it’s connecting a “work from home” laptop, helping you move from ADSL or 4G broadband to the NBN, diagnosing an Internet performance issue, setting up a new TV or eliminating a WiFi dead zone, if it’s tech-related and it’s in your home we’ll help you sort it out.

We’ve been in the IT industry for a long time, we know how complex technology, networking and computers can be.

The complicated technology that used to be reserved for the corporate world with their dedicated IT departments and highly trained technicians has, slowly but surely, made its way into our homes.

No matter how user-friendly manufacturers and Internet providers try to make their products, connecting your home, and the many network-connected devices in it to each and the Internet is still quite a difficult task.

What type of physical connection do you need?  What is the required cabling?  Do you need a modem/router or just a router?  All of these questions (and often more) need to be answered before you even connect a phone, laptop or gaming console to your shiny new WiFi.

If you’re lucky, and have simple requirements, then the technology supplied by your retailer might configure and connect straight out of the box … miracles do happen … but often they also don’t.  That’s where we come in.

In our modern, technology-saturated but price-sensitive world, consumers are expected to do their own in-home technology support.  When a problem arises that does not have an obvious solution (“Have you tried turning it off and back on again?“), consumers are bounced back and forth between their Internet provider, NBN Co, hardware vendors, on-site technicians and the youngest member of the household with fluency in Minecraft, YouTube, Instagram or TikTok skills.

We’ve seen too many people baffled, frustrated and overwhelmed with their technology and connectivity woes over the years and we decided to do something about it.

We are Tin Can Tech Support and we are  here to make technology work for you.

We are IT professionals with over 20 years experience across a range of products and technologies.  We’ve assembled PCs, repaired laptops, supported mainframes, built networks, installed SANs, configured firewalls, deployed NAS units, developed software, delivered training courses around the world and spent enough time in data centres for it to border on being a human rights violation.

We have been working with computers since before Linux took over the datacentre, when Microsoft Windows was an application (not an operating system), memory (RAM) was measured in kilobytes, hard disks were sized in megabytes and software came on floppy disks or quarter inch tapes.

What we’re trying to say here, in a roundabout way, is that we’ve been around a while, we know a thing or two and we can bring that wealth of experience to bear on your home technology problems.
